Ürün Açıklaması
Since 1984 English Heritage has been responsible for some of the most important monuments in England, including Stonehenge, Hadrian's Wall, Kenilworth Castle, Rievaulx Abbey, and country houses such as Audley End. Over 350 of these sites are open to the public and are described in this superbly illustrated book.
These historic monuments and buildings form a cross-section of the rich and varied archaeological and architectural heritage of England. In term of time they range over more than 5500 years, with properties such as Windmill Hill in Wiltshire dating from about 4000 BC at one end of the scale, and the nineteenth century windmill at Saxtead Green in East Anglia at the other.
This is the first time these magnificent buildins and monuments have been illustrated together in one volume. All have been specially photographed and all are intimately described and set in their historical context by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, Chaieman of English Heritage. The properties are broken down regionally to assist both the informed armchair reader and the eager tourist to make the most of the impressive buildings which are part of our heritage.
